B50 XL baler

Read our free buying guide for some insight and information about choosing the right vertical baler

With so many vertical baler options on the market, it can be overwhelming trying to choose one. There are different features and models to consider as well as your needs and budget. Use the following buying guide to make the decision process easier.

We have therefore identified 7 key questions to help you determine the right vertical baler for your needs.

What type of material do you wish to compact?

Different recyclables may require different solutions. We have specific balers for e.g. aluminium cans, plastic bottles, hard plastics, textile, and more. If you are compacting cardboard, paper, and dry soft plastic our B-series is a good choice without compromising on baler performance. If you are looking for a superior heavy-duty low ceiling baling machine suitable for many types of materials, our range of X-series balers is the superior choice. And yes, you can easily use the same baler machine for cardboard and plastic, but not at the same time. We recommend that you sort your waste and make separate bales.

How much waste do you generate per week?

Balers can be bought at differing capacity levels. Smaller locations are normally best served by a small vertical baler. A small vertical baler takes up minimal space and makes bales that fit easily through doorways and can be managed by a single person. For larger volumes of recyclables, a medium- or large baler can be a better option, as you will run fewer bales. Finally, think about how much you might be processing over the life of the baler and if you anticipate growth of your operation.

Is bale size - and weight important?

Our range of vertical balers can vary in size- and weight. Our bale weights range from 20 kg to 800 kg. Smaller bales are easier to handle and can be maneuvered through standard doorways, while larger bales on pallets can contribute directly to revenue return. Your local waste handling company can support you on this issue. Some may pay for baled material in certain sizes, weights, or volumes. Or maybe you just prefer a large baler in order to store away your recyclables quickly and easily.

How much space do you have available?

Space is a key consideration. Converting to a vertical baler can itself free up some space. Height must be considered. Our X-series range of low-profile balers are specially designed for low ceilings. Place the machine as close to the waste source as possible. Measure if there is space for the baler and people operating it. It’s vital to think about whether operations can continue properly around the baler once it’s installed.

What voltage and hertz do you have available?

Do you have single- or three phase available at the presumed location of the baler? Our small range of balers is available in single phase, while our medium- and large range balers come in three-phase. Remember to check the voltage provided as well as hertz.

What is your baler budget?

Think about how much you want to spend on a baling machine. You don’t want to overspend and pay for features or performance you’ll never use. You also don’t want to underspend and sacrifice productivity and output. Keep in mind, your budget could be
helped by the savings/return you will get from better waste management.
