Small luxury electric cars handle many tasks

Not many people may be aware that Garia is the only car manufacturer in Denmark, with their own factory in the city Viborg. They found a niche and manufacture golf and utility vehicles; small luxury electric cars for many purposes. Right from the start, it was the company's mission to invest in precisely electric vehicles with a little more comfort than the usual ones. They would offer better ergonomics and perfect design – and not least with the fuel of the future, namely electricity. They call it "zero emission with comfort".

The golf carts are "high-end" products for golfers who want to transport themselves and their golf equipment around the course. And an opportunity to prolong the pleasure of this sport, even if you have difficulty walking. The small golf carts are packed with equipment and comfort.

Utility cars are versatile work cars. They can function as a small van or a compact lorry. The cars are used in airports and in the public sector, e.g. with the postal service or other parcel delivery companies to deliver parcels, which is the case in Sweden. They are used in housing associations for property services, where there is no space for a tractor, but where the janitor can use a small utility vehicle with a platform in the back for his tools. It is almost only the imagination that sets limits to the possibilities of use of these small electric cars.

Expenses reduced by 87% - due to fewer emptyings of the container with cardboard

A review of the conditions at Garia showed that a baler model X25 would be the right solution for the car manufacturer. This stable and reliable machine compresses the empty cardboard packaging into compact cardboard bales weighing up to 300 kg each with a high press force. The cardboard baler is located in the goods reception area, where warehouse workers already unpack other goods deliveries. The same warehouse workers have now introduced a routine of picking up pallet frames with loose cardboard boxes from the assembly line. This reorganization of work routines, together with the baler's effective compaction, means a daily time saving of 1-2 hours.

The assemblers no longer spend valuable time folding the empty cardboard boxes or interrupting their assembly work of the small electric cars to go outside with cardboard waste. Edward Hopkins is enthusiastic: "In addition to the fact that we save man-hours daily on the internal waste management, the compaction into cardboard bales means a financial saving for us. Where we previously had to empty our outdoor container 8 times a month, we can now make do with just one."

We take care of the environment with a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions

Even though the cardboard was folded, it filled the closed container outside unnecessarily. When the cardboard waste is not compressed, "air" is actually transported on the road. With many monthly transports for emptying the container, this meant extra CO2 emission from the trucks. Garia is very satisfied that their new waste solution helps to take even more care of the environment and reduces CO2 emissions significantly. This improvement fits well with their product portfolio and "zero emission" strategy.

We are really happy with the new waste solution. We save 1-2 hours a day on handling cardboard, and I have calculated that the baler is paid back within a year. And that is a good investment.”
